Improved ground surfaces – stabilized part 1

Land, from which the surfaces are made, can be improved by increasing their coherence, reduction of absorbability and increasing load strength. This is achieved by adding various binders, which bind small particles of land. Cement is used as a binder, lime and various bituminous binders.

Cement is the most common material for stabilizing soil. Little soils with a low content of organic and clay parts are suitable for cement stabilization. Stabilization may include a layer 10-20 cm depending on the purpose of the road. The amount of cement should be set laboratory, taking into account the type of soil and the required strength. The add -on is most often used 100-150 kg cement on 1 m³ of stabilized soil. Conducting stabilization involves the distribution of a certain amount of cement on the ground surface, and then mixing it with the ground to the required depth. Another way is to remove a stabilized layer and mix it with cement (np. in concrete mixers), and then spreading in the same place. After mixing the soil with cement, the mixture should be poured with water to obtain humidity enabling cement binding.

Mixed and properly moisturized mixture should be spread and charged or concentrated with other tools. Krawędzie drogi podczas wykonywania nawierzchni mogą być umocnione pionowo ustawionymi deskami, curbs or arranged tonuses. The edges should be made after determining the width and required road height, and before starting mixing or replacing the ground. After adding cement, all subsequent activities, like mixing, rolling, equalization, etc., We will not greet the knife for 4-5 hours longer. After chasing the surface, it is necessary to keep it within 7-10 days in a state of high humidity by systematic watering. In order to protect the surface from drying, its surface should be covered with a thin layer of sand, foil sheets, etc.. If stabilization is carried out during the frozen period, It is necessary to protect the surface against freezing by covering it with mats, straw etc..
