Thermal insulation plasters - an alternative to polystyrene

Thermal insulation plasters - an alternative to polystyrene.

Why thermal insulation plasters?
Traditional polystyrene has disadvantages: inflammability, low vapor permeability. Plasters based on perlite or aerogel offer λ = 0,045 W/(m·K).

Types of plasters:

  1. Pearl: Cena 50 PLN/25 kg. It is applied with a layer 6 cm, reducing thermal bridges.
  2. Aerogel plaster: λ = 0,015 W/(m·K), But the cost is 200 PLN/m². Used in monuments.
  3. Clay plaster: Naturalny, regulates humidity - perfect for allergy sufferers.

Step by step installation:

  1. Preparation of the substrate (removal of old paint).
  2. Applying the reinforcement mesh.
  3. Three layers of plaster - the last smoothed with a trowel.

Case study: Modernization of the tenement house in Krakow
After applying perlite plaster, the heating bills fell from 400 PLN to 220 PLN per month. The investment turned to 4 lata.

Defects:
Plasters require experienced contractors - poorly applied are bursting with temperature fluctuations.
